We head off down from the Ibones de Bachimaña (2197 m) and cross the dam at Ibón Baxo to join a path on the other side. From here to Marcadau pass the route is marked GR 11 and GR-T 24. We border round Ibón Baxo and afterwards, following a north-westerly direction, border round Bachimaña Alto lake. A small descent leads to a flat area where the path peters out. Holding the same direction, we have to cross a stream and head towards a visible signpost on the other side (crossing with routes 11 and 25). Turn right onto an obvious, signposted footpath. Ignore the junction with a path leading to Gramatuero and continue upwards heading north to Ibón dero Pezico dera Canal (2465 m) (crossing with route 34). A short climb separates the lake from Marcadau pass (2541 m).
The descent from the pass heads along the top end of the cirque, between Marcadau peak (2675 m) to the right and Falisse or Punta Larre peak (2765 m) to the left. We lose height on an obvious path zigzagging over the scree. We then pass by Fuen Freda and the zigzags descend to the foot of the rock face crowning the valley. The path then descends gently through the grassy Rol del Port de Marcadau basin floor. When the basin opens up there is a small footbridge and a fork (crossing with routes 10 and 26). The path to the left leads up to Cuello dera Faxa. Ignore this path and cross the bridge. The walk continues over a wide meadow with some trees towards the refuge which is visible on the other side of the river. Cross over a third bridge and walk up the hill leading to the terrace of Wallon-Marcadau refuge.
